Stone rewards the installer who slows down

Natural stone is not a harder version of porcelain. It absorbs water, it stains, it varies slab to slab, some of it is soft enough to scratch with a key, and a lot of it will telegraph a dark thinset straight through a pale surface if you use the wrong one. Every one of those facts changes how it has to be installed.

Skyfix Tile and Remodeling LLC installs marble, granite, travertine, limestone, slate and quartzite throughout Fort Lauderdale and South Florida — on floors, walls, stairs, countertops, thresholds and window sills — and we handle it as the material it actually is.

What that means in practice

Stone we install regularly

Marble — Carrara, Calacatta, Crema Marfil, Emperador, Thassos, honed or polished. Granite — floors, counters, stair treads, thresholds and sills. Travertine — filled or unfilled, indoor floors and pool decks, a South Florida staple. Limestone and shell stone — patios, terraces and pool surrounds. Quartzite — countertops and feature walls where marble's look is wanted with more durability.

Stone outdoors in Florida

Pool decks and patios here take direct sun, salt, chlorine and heavy rain. We use the right setting materials for exterior work, keep slopes running away from the house, respect movement joints, and steer you toward finishes that will not be painful to walk on barefoot in July. Beautiful stone that cooks your feet is a bad choice we would rather talk you out of before it is installed.

Restoration and repair

Already have stone that has dulled, etched or cracked? We replace damaged pieces with colour-matched material, regrout, re-seal and clean up joints. Often that is a fraction of the cost of a replacement floor.

FAQ

Common questions

No, but it needs to be the right marble, sealed and maintained. Marble is calcium based, so acidic cleaners and products will etch it — that is a chemical mark, not a stain, and no sealer prevents it entirely. Honed finishes hide it far better than polished. We will tell you honestly what you are signing up for before you buy.

Typically every one to three years depending on the stone's porosity and traffic. A simple water test tells you: drop water on the surface, and if it darkens within a few minutes it is ready for sealer.

Usually. Natural stone varies between quarry batches, so an exact match is not guaranteed, but we source the closest available material and place the replacement pieces where variation reads least. Bring us a spare tile if you have one — it makes a big difference.

Yes. Granite, marble, quartzite and porcelain slab countertops, templated off your actual cabinets, seamed where it shows least, and sealed on installation.

It remains one of the best options here — it stays comparatively cool underfoot and handles the climate well. It needs the right setting materials, honest slopes for drainage and periodic sealing, all of which are part of how we install it.

Other work we can fold into the same job

Stone and tile usually meet somewhere — a marble threshold into a porcelain floor, a stone counter over a tiled splash. We do both sides of that line.
